December 31, 2008

2008 was a year FULL OF EVENTS!

thanks to the blogosphere, 2008 was really a memorable year for me. i had a lot of fun, and i mean, A LOT! the food, the people and the great experiences that i truly embraced with a bang! so as i countdown this year with a fresh start, i would like to remember these big events that i've been a part of. food has a very big share in all of these.

first of which is the Trinoma Blogger Food Tour which ignited the ohmski spirit to attend these kind of blogger events. and this also was very memorable for me because i won on the Blogger Photo Contest that although i campaigned, i didn't expect.

i conquered Boracay. it was expensive, true. but the feeling of living the life a little upscale was truly will last a lifetime. and spending getting away from stress isn't bad after all.

a very funny experience fro 2008 was i was held guilty of jaywalking in Marikina. of course i learned a lesson but sometimes, i was really ignorant of any rules. i heard a friend told me one time, Geminis tend to listen to advises, but they are stubborn and do the thing they want to do.

it's time to do something for the environment. Earth Hour was successful in the country and hopefully this will frequent every year to save the planet and also slow down some bad things we are causing its destruction. remember, it's irreversible.

my first TV exposure. Al, kelangan ko ng kopya nito! my 3-5 minutes of fame became a buzz to the people close to me.

a little taste of history and forcing to trace my ancestry at Villa Escudero was a time that i also want to repeat. i think i haven't got the most of it yet.

my Survivor torch flamed until the first half of December. of course, you always get updated.

Oktoberfest was stretched. may nagsawa kaya sa inuman dito? we all know that this went on 120 days as the best Oktoberfest yet. for bloggers, a special Oktoberfest was offered to them.

finally, I saw Judy Ann Santos at Pantene's event. the events kept coming and coming.

there's a lot of promos i shared with you and one of them is Delifrance's Secret Santa. i know marami din nag-enjoy sa inyo.

and sino ang hindi pumusta sa labanang Pacquiao-Dela Hoya? na-feature pa ang Pambansang Kamao sa isang astig na magasin at nahirang na World's Best Fighter!

and i welcomed Christmas season when Super Bowl of China gave bloggers a festive treat with their four additions to the menu and having us take home a ham and their yummy special chicken! i hope there's another next year!

a lot of concerts also happened this year. the much waited Eheads reunion, Rihanna and Cris Brown at the Fort, and a number big acts that i don't know where to start. whew! dami nun diba?

matayog pa rin ang APO

last night was a blast! and i say that i was a virgin in watching APO concerts as Jim Paredes would say. ang galing pa rin nila at walang kupas pa rin ang mga boses! they sang all APO favorites at hindi binigo ang fans after more than 2 hours of waiting while watching front acts. nga pala, they are not APO Hiking Society anymore, it's APO of the Philippines. truly we are proud!

Teatro Marikina talents gave us a variety of numbers. talented talaga. the congressman honored the government of Marikina dedicating Impossible Dream. Periodico was the front act. i can say, "May future ka" to the band. and the main event begins with a very lively opening song. dko lang alam kung anong title but it has repeating "heto na" on the lyrics but it's not Doobidoo. hehehehe... everyone sang along with timeless hits like Ewan, Blue Jeans, Panalangin on the first set. a very entertaining play on the song Yesterday by The Beatles liven up the audience kasi parang pirated ang interpretation nila. tumatalon na plaka kumbaga, naisingitan pa ng Do-Re-Mi.

Doobidoo rendition was fun. isipin mong may versions pala sina Frank Sinatra, Beyonce at Ken Lee. haha... single people and hopeless romantics waved their flags on When I Met You.

it's a merry christmas greeting to everyone when they sang Tuloy na Tuloy Pa Rin ang Pasko and Pasko Na, Sinta Ko. and then it was finished by another exciting Salawikain rendition.

a new song was introduced to us and it is good. hoping to make it to the charts soon as they release it. dko na naman alam ang title.

other titles were Kabilugan ng Buwan; Di Na Natuto, which is in 3 versions each of Jim, Buboy and Danny. old and young sang with Batang Bata Ka Pa. the greatest folk songs were rendered in contemporary music and barkadas sway on Awit ng Barkada.

the show ended with a granduous fireworks display.

my Christmas so far

although i haven't got to attend even one Simbang Gabi, i think i had the best Christmas yet!

after i had done my last minute Christmas shopping, i realized that i still have money on my ATM unspent! pero syempre titipirin na rin before New Year. kelangan kasi mapera ka pagpasok ng taon and sabi din sa isang feng shui interview na wag gumastos on the first week of the New Year. and maganda itong 2009 para sa mga taong born on the Year of the Rat. anung swerte kaya naghihintay sakin? career na sana ito. sana pati "karir" hehehe...

and on the 26th, as i've said previously, nagcheck-in kame ng family sa Crowne. isang sosyal na overnight ito at nagsawa din ako sa Galleria. nakita ko pa si Jace Flores from Survivor Philippines. (hanggang dito ba naman, SP pa rin nasa utak ko? haha) the food was on them kasi the hotel was on me. gastos no?

then later the next day, pagkacheck-out namin sa Crowne, drecho naman ako sa Global City para imeet naman ang officemates ko at baby shower ng isang balahurang nagngangalang jowesh. ayun, bilog na bilog ang tiyan at hinala kong lalaki ang lalabas. pero anyway, niregaluhan ko nalang ng damit at medyas ang bata para may laban sa ginaw paglabas nun.

feeling sosyal still at nagfifirst-time sa Serendra (bigkasin na parang may bweysesh sa ngala-ngala) at Bonifacio High Street, muntik ko nang mwala ang 2 kong phone. buti nalang may nagsurrender ng kaawa-awa at nakakahiyang cellphone ko sa counter sa Starbucks sa Fully Booked. to Abby and Mikka na nakausap ko, GOD BLESS YOU (mga staff ng starbx).

of course, pictures to the max kahit 12 na umalis ng Global City at nakumpleto na nina rio at alex ang kanilang stickers. naghihintay na lang sila ng january para masulatan na ang mga bagong planner.

christmas itinerary

Merry Christmas everyone! it so happened that my schedule for the whole Christmas break is occupied with a lot of get-togethers and meal meetings. fortunately they don't overlap each other and some of them which supposedly includes to my schedule has happened already or they have been postponed.

later we will hear Christmas Novena at church and welcome the newborn Lord.

first, Christmas Day with relatives. i don't know if the same thing happens every year that our relatives go to our place by lunch and then we drop to my auntie's house for snack until dinner for some barbecue.

on December 26, our family with my niece will check in at Crowne Plaza for a post-Christmas bonding. this will be an overnight fun so we better plan all the fun. -- ate, tulungan mko dito!

on the 27th, me and my officemates will throw a baby shower for one of our former officemates, Jouie at Market! Market! chitchat and coffee with everyone who will attend.

28th, mokke peeps will have a party of our own. gifts? ewan ko kung makabili ako. hehehe... but my presence will count right?

30th is concert night. APO Hiking Society will bring us back on memory lane for Marikina's annual year-end concert. fireworks display culminates the year.

31 sa bahay lang. hehe...

again, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

a short story

a taxi driver was driving late afternoon on the road when suddenly a driver of a big truck behind him kept on blowing his horn. he pulled over and asked the truck driver what his problem was. the truck driver just stared at him.

on the road again, the truck driver kept blowing his horn. the taxi driver angrily stopped and asked the driver of the truck. the truck driver said:
"there's a woman behind you with a knife wanting to cut your head. everytime i blow my horn she disappears, and now i think she's right behind the person reading this message."
good night.

friendster users: beware of a new virus

as usual, the ever-reliable friendster has got some problems. the frequenting site maintenance doesn't seem to work. i don't know if they have completely fixed ALL problems for me to continue my membership of this boring site. i just can't leave it because i have my true friends on my list. the only way to communicate with them is thru friendster. and the only thing exciting about it is the testimonials sections which has lost its essence because it became a comment section where everybody is just like sending emails already in there which supposed to be private. the inbox is not spam-proof. and now even the comments area. lately i have received a new comment but to my surprise this came out:
i supposed to send a message to the person who posted this to my site but prior to it, a DJ said that her friends also notify her that she posts this as comment but in truth she is innocent of it.

as for me, mag-enjoy nalang kayo sa pic or kung masyado kayong conservative, delete nyo na. lol

(may reklamo? lol)

Unlimited-text promo unavailable Dec. 25, Jan. 1
MANILA, Philippines - Mobile telephone companies Smart Communications and Globe Telecom, Inc. will not offer unlimited text and call promotions on Christmas and on New Year’s eves.

Likewise, a similar promotion from Globe will not be made available on Dec. 24 and 25, and on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, said Froilan M. Castelo, Globe’s regulatory division head.

Survivor Philippines: CONGRATS JC! Finale Recap

ANG FIRST PINOY SOLE SURVIVOR! JC TIUSECO!

7PM nagsimula magpapasok ng GMA ng audience sa kanilang new building. and before it all started, i met with the Dotcomers at the gate. thanks deeply for the ticket. Gigit and Patani acknowledged the presence of everyone who will be witnessing the greatest event of the night.

taping the first segments of the show. (oo, tape na muna, pero hintayin nyo ang details ng announcement of winner) scenes from the last Tribal Council was shown until the votes were cast. Kiko and Vern's votes were revealed. Kiko's vote for JC included a big exclamation point for his big support to the basketball player. Vern's vote for Rob may malaking ♥ at smiley face kasi... alam nyo na. the final 2 and the jury were on stage with their outfits from the last Tribal Council para mag-assume tayo na parang tinuloy lang scene. Paolo explained why they needed another vote from the Philippine viewers. para tie-braker incase maging 4-4 ang lumabas. justified! then Paolo tells the jury and the final 2 to meet him when they get back to the Philippines.

ang pagbabalik sa Pilipinas ay ok naman. kala ko maga-ala-Jeff Probst at malaking time ang ginugol pa sa pagshoot nito. pero ok naman na nakapag-helicopter sya going down to GMA. next time sana mas kaabang-abang ito. pressure! hehehe...

special moments from the show are shown before every commercial break. one is Patani's moment while acting with Marlon at Jarakay days. ininterview din ang jury regarding each account with the final 2. napanood nyo naman yun kaya dko na iisa-isahin. hahaha.. (tinamad lang ako.) supporters of the final 2 had live streaming too at their respective places: Rob gathered Mandaluyong citizens at the municipal hall and JC brought all Baste students to the campus. special messages were given by the mayor (?) of Mandaluyong and JC's HS teacher from San Sebastian.

then the votes were revealed. the Boto ng Bayan was a landslide given to JC earning him one vote. it's 93% over Rob's 7%. well, during breaks naman while we were cheering at the GMA studio, Rob is already raising JC's hand bidding his congratulations to the co-survivor. then Rob's name was opened, it was Vern's parchment. then JC, from Kiko. then Rob (secret muna) then JC, another JC, another JC and Paolo announced "ang kauna-unahang Pinoy Sole Survivor: JC TIUSECO!"

here is what JC got from the show: a gold pearl (auction for a replica, anyone?), Php 3M cheque, and the brand new Honda red car. Rob gets Php 300k.

the reunion show reveals more. abangan bukas after Ful Haus. BIG BIG BIG surprises!

CHARISSEYACAPIN: marlon

ohmski: cris, anung story nyo ng tatay

December 10, 2008

Survivor Philippines: mukhang totoo ang spoiler a.

Anna Charisse Yacapin completes the 8 jurors being voted off the island during the final 3's Tribal Council leaving JC and Rob in the Final Two!

THE SPOILER ISSUE: mukhang halata na nga talaga. at deserving tlaga si JC. kumpara sa kanilang 2 ni Rob, si JC ang may mas nakararaming nagtitiwala. anyway, congrats to both of you, JC and Rob.

Survivor Philippines: Live Chat with Kaye, Zita and Paolo

ohmski: pano po ninyo pinatawad si
Marlon nung inaway nya kayo?

ZITAORTIGA: yung pagpatawad ko sa kanya,
mula po sa puso ko. kung mayroon
po akong sama ng loob sa isla,
iniwan ko na lahat. sobrang saya
po ako ngayon. nakakataba ng
puso po. mabait naman si Marlon.
strategy niya yun. ang strategy
ko po maging nanay nila. pero
wala po akong pinagsisihan

ohmski: marami pa bang surprises kahit 3 episodes nalang?

PAOLOBEDIONES: yup and very emotional final 3 episodes

ohmski: do you still have the pressure for
establishing the next season kung meron man?

PAOLOBEDIONES: of course.

ohmski: cno pinakaclose mo sa mga castaways?

PAOLOBEDIONES: lots of them.

ohmski: sino ang nanalo sa Bb. Koh Tarutao?

KAYEALIPIO: Marlon. lol

ohmski: to everyone involved sa SP: GUJAB!

KAYEALIPIO: wala akong nasabe.

Rob will have a sure seat in the Final two.
Rob will have the absolute power to choose between Charisse and Jc to join him on final two.

Marky Cielo (1988-2008)

Mark Angelo Cadaweng Cielo in real life left his fans and went to glory on Dec 7 2008 for a still unknown reason. his mother, Mildred, stated that she was waking the actor but doesn't respond. he was rushed on nearby Antipolo Doctor's Hospital but declared dead upon arrival. his remains rest at St. Peter Memorial Chapel of Our Lady of Good Voyage Cathedral in Antipolo City and will be taken at the Benguet Province.

winning as Ultimate Sole Survivor, a reality artista-search on GMA 7, Starstruck, Cielo has become a crowd favorite and immediately rose to his stardom with a lot of showbiz projects. he had a role on Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas, as a son of a Sang'gre and reigned over the legacy of his ancestors; rivaled on Mark Herras on the weekly variety show, SOP; teaming up and delivering a funny stint on Startalk; a lead role on the remake of Shaider, as Zaido Green in Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan and others. sadly, he didn't make it to continue his upcoming project with Yasmien Kurdi on GMA7.

proud of his native roots as an Igorot, he is dubbed as an essential part of regional consciousness by Mr. Butch Guerrero, a writer connected with the University of the Philippines’ Creative Writing Center and an observer of pop culture.

he will be missed.

Survivor Philippines: Chitae out!

the Driver, Cris Cartagenas, drives away home after having a dispute with Rob and didn't even established alliance with Charisse while Rob and JC are away enjoying a reward. now it leaves the final 3: Rob, JC and Charisse who is still holds 2 records of being the last woman and Jarakay standing at Koh Tarutao. Rob and Cris have been buddies before at Naak and through the first days of Chalam. but this ties have shattered when Cris started to make some realizations that Rob always experience rewards and lately the most sought-after immunity without any effort.

Iskul Bukol 20 Years After - The return of the Escalera Brothers is here. The wacky combination of Tito, Vic and Joey rocks the cinemas this year 2008 with probably the biggest bang in their trio after 20 years of silence of the Iskul Bukol sitcome in the early 80’s. Today is the time they try to give more laughter to the people from the Philippines with this entry to the MMFF in the first ever sequel to the long lost Iskul Bukol in Wanbol University of the dreaded wise men from Wanbol University. This movie offer from Regal Films, directed by Mike Tuvierra and Topel Lee is a trilogy of horrors in 3 parts and episodes. Dividing the horrors this Christmas story turned horror into 3 to give more fun and thrill in cost-effective way by rendering as good as 3 movies rolled in one. Magkaibigan - Under Maverick Films with last year’s best actor Jinngoy Estrada producing and starring in the movie. It is actually a movie tribute for a best friend who passed away, Rudy Fernandez this year.

Dayo ( a great animated movie you must see ) - Under Cutting Edge, this is the first animated movie accepted to take part in the MMFF 2008 series of awarding held each year and a history in the making. This animated movie is directed by Robert Quilao with Artemio Abad and Eric Cabahug. I am telling you this is something that Filipinos can be really really proud of because of the quite unique collaboration done here as you see one of the best if not the best animated movie ever done in the Philippines since Panday. The animation is indeed the best among what I have seen done in the Philippines and proudly Filipino. I personally salute this effort to render such quality so that investors for Philippine animation will see that it is possible with some of the best an animation artists in the world proven to have come from the Philippines and as seen in this movie. Survivor Philippines: Dibdiban!

Rob and JC returns from the reward they had at another island. they sure had a nice time and Rob almost felt it was a date unless JC is a girl. LOL

the castaways are taken back in time as the previous challenges are tied up for the next immunity challenge. the huge wooden ball, exotic food and Thai calendar tested again the 4's physical and mental strengths. this challenge was the biggest of them all because it also gives a brand new car.

when they are all digging on the sand to find the cubes of the Thai calendar, Cris destracted Rob and on a negative tone asked Rob how sure he is safe on the next TC.

JC overcome all obstacles outplaying the others. the twist is, between immunity and the car, JC only has to get one and give the other prize for another castaway. thinking that he is safe already, he gave immunity to Rob and got the car instead. Rob poked on Cris' chest as if saying "kainin mo sinabi mo" and Cris just grinned.

Ohmski's Blogline: Bloggers eat Super Bowl of China

another pig-out moment for me and other bloggers last night as Yehey and Super Bowl of China unveils to us their new servings, the Crispy Mandarin Chicken, Seafood Chopsuey,Tao Sa Pao and Lechon Macau. these four unique selections are only available for a limited time and goes with Super Bowl's all time favorites: Deep Fried Cuttlefish with Spicy Salt, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Hunan Tofu, Crispy Shrimp w/ Sweet & Sour Sauce, Fish Fillet with Taosi Sauce, Sweet and Sour Pork, Honey Glazed Pork Ribs, Sliced Beef with Brocolli, Szechuan Shrimp, Golden Shanghai Chicken, Steamed Fish Fillet w/ Garlic, assorted dimsum, roasts, rice toppings, and desserts.

we have got the chance to see how these very tempting foods are made as Mr. Bob Vallar, the MK Director of Big Buddha Restaurant, took us per batch at the kitchen and introduced us to Chef Mike and Chef Roy, the head chefs for Super Bowl of China. Chef Roy showed us how to make the Crispy Mandarin Chicken while Wok Chef, Chef Mike demonstrated a little on making the Seafood Chopsuey. though the temperature was a little high inside the kitchen, the information was priceless. a little tip on deep-frying : if you are to deep-fry and wanting to check if the oil is hot enough, use a dry chopstick and dip it in the oil. if bubbles come out of the chopstick, then it's ready for use.

as a group goes into the kitchen, the rest of the bloggers are in contest mood pimping their personal bowl. art materials are provided and just let the bloggers squeeze the creative juice to design the humble bowl. and as everyone is busy with the bowls, food just kept coming in until we surrendered. haha!

the night ended with the announcement of winners for Most Creative, Most Original Design and Most Festive. congrats to the winners. and lastly, everyone did not go home without a bag to carry as the hosts handed out 2 boxes of treat: a Christmas ham and roasted chicken! how generous is that for a blog event? thanks to Yehey and Super Bowl of China. love 'em and hoping to see you again on your next event!

there's something about askals

votes from: Rob, Charisse, JC

magdusa kayo sa gutom! (bwahahaha... ang sama ko!) sya na nga ang nagmagandang loob na buhayin kayo at ituring na mga anak. as she said, "Hindi ko akalaing gagawin nyo sa akin ito." and we share the same sentiment. dahil lang ba sa hindi kayo nasama sa Bangkok?

the Nanay ng Bayan, Zita Ortiga, voted off from last night's Tribal Council. very, very disappointing. si Nanay talaga kahit kelan nakakaiyak ang moments. una, nung nanalo sya sa first individual immunity challenge.
