Michael Jackson dies at 50

i am not unfamiliar with the name. in fact, i was one of those children that grew up with Billy Jean, Bad, and Thriller. Michael Jackson is a household name and probably the generation coming after our time would only see him as the child molester, the cosmetic patient and big money.

this morning i less heard that the King of Pop had passed away and i was hoping that this was just a dream. until later on that everybody was buzzing and it was confirmed at the UCLA Hospital that Michael Jackson is dead on thursday afternoon on the US (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009). suddenly i came running back through the events that happened in his life and of course the music of the true legend.

he has been making music even before i was alive and my parents have been enjoying his music since then. a lot of revivals from his songs have been made like Boyzone's Ben and Mariah Carey's I'll Be There.

lately on this year's American Idol, Michael Jackson's music has been the theme for the Top 13 and it was a great privilege for them to sing his songs. also last year, Filipinos stand tall for reliving Michael Jackson's Thriller as Cebu inmates danced to the tune. his only record that soared to 100 million copies sold!

i remember that we had copies of his videos and cassettes and still i got the chills for the production of Thriller. and still i can't help myself stomping my feet to Michael Jackson's dance tunes. and he produces music videos that always come up like movies. indeed he got so many influenced by his moonwalk and other things in regard to his music.

despite all the troubles that he underwent these couple of years, Michael Jackson's legacy to the music industry will always be remembered. Michael Jackson is an accomplished man but it is a sad goodbye.
