TWO LOVERS movie review

have you ever felt choosing between two persons: someone you love and someone who loves you? and when you decided to go for the person you love, it turns out that the person is not going for you. you made all efforts to be with that person and even lied to the other just for the sake that you don't want to hurt her feelings.

that's the plot of this story Two Lovers starring Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow. Joaquin Phoenix plays an aspiring photographer who just came from a heartbreak thus being set up by his parents to a family friend, Sandra (Vinessa Shaw). not really getting interested with her, he finds Michelle (Paltrow), a neighbor who happens to be also involved with another man. but Michelle struggles in the relationship because the man she's with is not yet divorced with his wife. Phoenix, on the other hand, gives his concern and professes his love to Paltrow to a crazy extent of asking her to marry him. but unexpectedly, Paltrow's wishes to be with the other man is granted thus leaving Phoenix depressed -- resulting to coming back to Shaw.

a very timely story about love and its consequences. you might be interested with the cheesy scenes from the movie and the crazy stuff that guys might do in fighting for love but ends in an unsuccessful attempt.

I love Makati

i've spent my 4 years working in Makati. and within those years, i think i have rolled across every street. i have survived the busy setting and Makati has helped me through it. parties going around the vicinity of Makati Business district and not to mention great places for shopping with lots of good bargains.

what are the things to see in Makati? you can find almost everything there --

if you're looking for a job, the main offices of the top corporations are located in the Makati Business district. you won't get lost because the friendly security guards and policemen are ready to point to you the right direction to where you are heading.

if you search for great food, everything from street foods to fancy are in the list. you can have Filipino, American, Chinese, Italian... i mean, the list is endless. for people in the rush, convenience shops can be found in many corners.

Makati is already near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport so tourists can check in at the various hotels within the area. condo units are also available to those who want to live near their workplaces.

i'm sure you have more reasons than i have posted above. why don't you share it through video and share it by joining the I Love Makati Video Contest. a contest open for everyone who live or visiting Makati. by joining this contest, you are also promoting tourism in Makati and also the Philippines.

this contest is made possible by Jupiter Suites and Budget Travels Philippines.

--UPDATE--
the contest has been extended to December 30! and for those who want to join the contest, a video shoot will be held on December 19 2009 (Saturday). interested participants will assemble at Jupiter Suites in Makati City and will proceed to the various spots where shooting permit is allowed. be there with your friends by 830AM and capture yourself or your subject on why you love Makati.

you can also check the I Love Makati website to get raw video footages if you want to join the contest. you can use these videos as to compose your entry to the I Love Makati contest.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL resounds in the big screen

Walt Disney is bringing us an animated adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel A Christmas Carol. Jim Carrey stars as the grumpy, old and with no Christmas-spirit, Ebenezer Scrooge -- haunted by three Christmas spirits: Past, Present and Yet to Come.

as the story goes, Ebenezer never celebrated Christmas for he only knows what he wants -- to gain fortune. he worked hard to achieve it and forgotten the time of the year when everyone is merry, regardless of their status in life. he lived this life along with his partner, Marley, who died by the opening of the story. seven Christmas Eves later, the three spirits visited him and showed him his past Christmas experiences, what was happening on the day he lives, and what would happen after.

of course Scrooge was scared the time the ghost of Christmas Yet to Come showed him the series of events happening in the future. this he realized that no one truly cared about him and the bad effects which he should have helped during the time he lived. he changed his behavior when he woke up and lived a happy, festive Christmas time.

Robert Zemeckis did an excellent job doing the movie. but you watch the movie as it is, it might not be appreciated by children in general. the deep sense of the story might leave children asking how and why. the story is a little bit on a very serious tone.

the movie can also be seen in 3D IMAX theaters. if you want to catch it, it will be showing on December 2.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY movie review

this is a documentation of a couple in exploring the phenomena that is happening around their house. Katie and Mica, living in California, has been feeling a strange burden inside their house.

Mica and his camera, is very much eager to find and capture the events that are disturbing his fiancee. later on they found out that a demon has been following Katie since she was younger and wants to get her from Mica. a lack of help from spiritual questors and a bad atmosphere occurred between the two that gave the demon the strength to finally get Katie's body.

probably one of the most recommendable scariest films of today. i don't want to scare you or something, but this has given me the greatest goosebumps in a long time. especially when the manifestations of the unknown goes stronger and when you check out the time of its recording.

filmmaking wise, this really looked realistic. how they made the actions, shadows and even the movements made me hide my face with my bag as i watch the movie. if you want to go to sleep, go for another stuff that might amuse you after seeing the movie.

no wonder it won an award from the Scarefest.

NINJA ASSASSIN movie review

this movie is not for the weak-hearted. you might able to see a lot of blood squirts, limbs sliced and thrown everywhere. even internal organs floating in mid-air will surely make you cover your faces and disgust the scene. it's Gore-fest, it's good! you better be thankful that this was not shown in 3D because the images are so sharp, not to mention the shuriken blades flying and killing people.

effortless acting too by Asian superstar, Rain, who happens to start his Hollywood career with Speed Racer. though ninja characters often are too serious and monotonous, this ninja has got feelings that why he opposed and left his clan. you might praise him for giving a swift exhibition of martial arts and you can notice that he really did a tedious workout and training for this movie.

the movie is primarily more focused on the visuals than of the story. i've felt somehow that some scenes are not really needed in the overall. stunts and other effects are really made awesome.

notebook won by Yapatoots, signed by Rain himself

Unsigned talents Emerge with MTV

we strongly support Filipino talents and its great influence on the youth. great bands have emerged since our parents' time and their music still plays on the radio as well with good remakes sang by the contemporary artists of the modern generation. good thing that the new generation have also been supporting our artists despite the big influence of the western culture and even making them known to all corners of the earth where there's a Filipino.

also, we are also grateful that the international media are giving opportunities for the talents to show off the true Filipino blood of creativity and diversity of talents through special programs like MTV Emerge. it is a platform which showcases Filipino unsigned artists and give them a chance to give a shout-out to the world by winning a one-year contract with the newest record label, Jeepney Music, founded by Black Eyed Peas member, Apl D Ap.

this program is a collaboration of MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism aiming for a great appreciation of true Filipino talent not only with western music like indie, rock, hip-hop, R&B, metal, solo artists, DJs, etc., but it is also an online community where members can upload, browse and vote for their favorite new artists. enlarge newsletter for more details.

i have listened to Answers by Midsummer and their music was kind of like a merge of Linkin Park and Paramore. so you can have that Twilight mode while listening to them. what's cool is, they're Filipino. i encourage you to support them and the other entries as well. you can also invite other inspiring musicians to join the contest.

2012 movie review

are you afraid of something? what if you have no choice but to less all things pass, would you save yourself or die helpless?

that's what i saw when i watched 2012. it all started on the belief of the Mayans which really wasn't much touched on the movie. it was like another continental drift unfortunately happened on a very specific date on 2012. the human race didn't really had much time but some powerful individuals manage to take on Darwin: the survival of the fittest.

unimaginable things suppose to happen on 2012. like massive earthquakes, tidal waves and disposition of the continents resulting to great property destruction and lives vanish in an instant. however, the Great 8 had been developing another Noah's Ark to save their races. poor China, their people have been used for the benefit of others but they almost didn't have a chance to save themselves.

doomsday scenes are scary. what if it really happens on 2012? what would you do to survive? the images are almost too realistic with the graphic enhancement. John Cusack also did well but i don't understand his role in the movie.

if you watch this movie, you will be holding tight to your seats.
