ANG BAGONG HARANA romanticizes your individuality as a nation

Philippine Opera Company aims to promote rich Philippine heritage and culture in a limited performance of "Ang Bagong Harana" from September 29 - October 1, 2011 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium. A spectacular show of Philippine music offered to the youth.
The show provides color, and ignites your pride to be born Filipino. The vibrance and diversity of each region appeared in one stage as 11 voices serenade you with the best Philippine songs of all time. All of the Philippines is served at one stage. From a versatile dropped curtain, you will see different reasons why to be proud. The simple cloth transformed into a variety of sights of a Philippines and a book opened to our culture.
A tribute to the unknown songwriters from all regions, the loved Ryan Cayabyab and George Canseco among others accompanied by the dances from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Also narrating our roots, starting from the innocence of the Filipino children, the traditional song Bahay Kubo and Pen Pen de Sarapen brings back the childhood in everyone of us.

As "Harana" is a romantic gesture of courtship in the Philippines, we will also be served with native folk dances from the low lands to the top of the mountains. Adorned with wonderful costumes and accessories, the dancers exhibit the traditional ways of courtship in different regions.

And the production is quite fantastic. Allow your nationalism release from your hearts with Anak and Bayan Ko with grandiose arrangements.

And for all of us, we hope that we get the message of promoting our own heritage and culture for the upcoming generations. To promote our identity as a nation and keep it. That our nation is filled with treasures that cannot be stolen from us. The Philippine Opera Company and the rest of the industry are blessing to every Filipino individual.
Floy Quintos did a very splendid job directing this production. As we watch the production, we can't help but to sing along with the common songs that they have in the repertoire. And the fantastic costumes from the mountains to the lowlands glitter in the eyes of the audience. It really deserves a standing ovation.

a new comedy starring the "unkabogable" Vice Ganda in a one of a kind role that will once again tickle your funny bones. a reserve officer Praybeyt Benjamin struggles in the barracks being a closet queen and with a hidden admiration on commander (Derek Ramsay).
in a press conference held at the Dolphy Theater, Vice Ganda and the other casts talked what the movie is all about and their experience doing it. Derek Ramsay, however was absent at the moment. they are joined with director Wenn Deramas.

most casts, especially Eddie Garcia, had military training. not to mention being a reserve officer for the US military in Korea before he entered show business. was even more shocking is when he admitted he had a male-to-male encounter. same with DJ Durano and Carlos Agassi who admitted the matter. additional cast include Kean Cipriano of Calla Lily, Jimmy Santos, Malou de Guzman and Nikki Valdez.

Praybeyt Benjamin is a family comedy about acceptance and being strong in times of need. it subtly addresses the issue of gender equality and admission of gays in the military forces.

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS movie review

companionship, sex and love realized when everything ends displayed in Sony Pictures' new romantic comedy Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. opening on September 28 2011 at Philippine theaters nationwide.

you may be lost in a strange streets of New York but there is a person willing to help you out. newbie in New York Dylan (Justin Timberlake) is a blogger getting hired in top lifestyle GQ as a creative director, thanks to head hunter Jamie (Mila Kunis). she also has opened his eyes to the streets of New York and its lifestyle. in return, Dylan has to retain in this new job in order for her to get her bonus. both of them would benefit holding on and hanging on to each other.

clashing two people from different coasts, they experience each other's worlds -- and bodies -- which tied them closely together. plainly sex and nothing else, they agreed simply. notice rear exposures by Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake for about 10-20 minutes of love making. first part of the movie puts you in a light mood as our main characters discovers themselves. as Jamie is a very liberated girl, Dylan is a somehow-conservative type of guy but like a bomb waiting to explode.

but it gets complicated when Jamie tried to find a serious lover. letting get off, Dylan continues to his life but he realizes that something is empty without her. on the other hand, she also gets emotionally attached to Dylan. hesitant to say about what they truly feel, they parted ways. this chic flick rose up your dream on a dream relationship without commitments but destroys your love excitement. there are also a lot of cute scenes like the flash mob. i was also disappointed that there are some edited scenes. but i hope those are not really essential to the story.

if you want to see it earlier than the others, there is a special preview for the public on September 19 and 20 in selected theaters. don't miss the middle of the end credits. check online on your different cinema schedules to get tickets in advance. you can also check the local radio stations for ticket promos.

The Favorite T-shirt Award

this will be the first time that I am sharing a very unusual story from the closet. about my favorite shirt. if there could be a special awards night for shirts and if this shirt could talk, i think it will give the most heart-warming speech.

i got this shirt from a relative who went abroad and of course as you all know in the Philippine culture, relatives at home would expect something back. lucky enough that i got the last piece which doesn't fit anybody but it has the best condition from the rest. i immediately grabbed it and perfectly it fits. it also carries the sleaziest message from all of the shirts i had. think anything that connotes with "SELFISH IN BED."

after around 5 years and i can still wear it and never it has worn off. i also wear it in events i went to and it never left my luggage when i go vacation. it's been there when i gain weight, i enjoy death-defying amusement rides, night out with friends, etc.

as my shirt says "selfish," there's nothing wrong that i share it with those who will be left cold especially in this coming time of the year. so i am donating it to charity this Christmas.

i love this shirt! i really, really do! now i want someone to enjoy it too! i support the Electrolux Wash-aton Clothes Donation Advocacy.

Kids and pirates in Peter Pan!

Few nights to go and we're off to Neverland. Seeing familiar faces like the Darling children, Wendy, John and Michael, together with Tiger Lily, Tinkerbell, the Lost Boys, and of course the evil pirates, drawn me back to my childhood and also wished that I never grew up.

Repertory Philippines will stage their last production this season as they bring the new version of Peter Pan with Sam Concepcion playing the title role. Seeing their rehearsals in Makati gave me chills of excitement to see it in Meralco Theater starting on September 29!

Directors Jaime de Mundo and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo also gave us a glimpse of how the stage will look like. It resembles the past of Peter when he left his home and returning finding another child in his mother's arms. This will open into his rebellious but fun childhood in Neverland. And every scene will draw you into Neverland and its amazing creatures.
Now take a look at what's happening during the rehearsals. See excerpts of two songs: The Lost Boys Gang and Good Old Captain Hook performed by the cast.

Indeed Peter Pan and his friends will fly on secure harnesses for better effect. Songs and great dances await the audiences into a magical experience.

Repertory Philippines' PETER PAN is staged by the Children's Theater starting from September 29 - December 2011 at the Meralco Theater.
