BRAVE movie review

"everybody can change their own fate, you just have to be brave to face it." that would be an inspirational line i heard at the end of Disney and Pixar's latest movie collaboration, BRAVE. which opens today in theaters in 2D and 3D formats.
the story is about Merida, a princess who doesn't act like one. she is passionate about making her own adventures instead of staying inside the castle waiting for a knight or a prince to take her hand. this worries her mother, Queen Elinor, for not acting like a princess for one, setting aside all her plans for Merida. the conflict between mother and daughter raised Merida's anger to her mom and when she gets the chance, she puts magic to change her fate.
despite this conflict, the family keeps intact and she's got the coolest democratic father. King Fergus who leads the kingdom lets his children where they want to go and what they want to do. a perfect opposite of the queen and whom Merida goes very well.
Brave is sure to be a good movie but it just follows all the "prove-yourself" type of stories unlike Up and Wall-E. and here, there's no direct antagonist but herself, making the curse to work. it just signifies that we are our own enemies.

opening in August 1 in the Philippines, Brave scores a new princess through Merida but she's not a damsel in distress. in fact, she may save you from danger. but she's a little stubborn.

Ateneo BlueRep's 13

i remember adjusting to high school as i see new faces and face new characters in my life. i had a set of friends but never thought of having the best. these scenes came back to my memory as i saw 13 -- Ateneo Blue Repertory's season opener.
the story is about Evan Goldman who moved in to New York and torn about the circumstances as he approaches his Bar Mitzvah. it is when a Jewish child is called to be a man. new to his environment, he tries to blend in with a couple of other people of his age in ways that would be "cool." when conflicts on friendship and relationship arises, he discovers that being cool is just simply being himself and appreciate the things he currently has.Ateneo BlueRep brings out the message to everyone especially those who are having the same personal crises like Evan had. 13, composed of RJ Santillan as Evan, Bernice Reyes as Patrice, David Mercado as Archie, Roxci de Leon as Lucy, Raya Esteban as Kendra, Darrell Uy as Brett including more casts in their vibrant, unaltered presentation of 13. each character depicts many of the people in our lives and broadens out the understanding of each cast internally. doing their homework producing this musical, the characters also helped them to make the changes in their own selves for the better.

the colors and the story line will definitely catch your attention. for a 2-hour musical, i didn't get bored. i also didn't get up during the break because of a special entertainment they provided. it's something to watch out.
director Christopher De Venecia (9WT: You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Little Shop of Horrors)intentionally put 13 to pilot the season and put older-than-13 actors to bring more value and help the cast imbibe their own character. this is to give another "attack" from the original which was played by actual 13-year-olds. together with musical director Reb Atadero (Bare, Rizal X) and choreographer Mica Fajardo, the technical aspects of the musical are amazing escpecially the chorus. the ensemble blended nicely and i think it is very well-casted. each cast delivered his role very good.

13 the musical by Ateneo Blue Repertory stages today at the Fine Arts Theater of Ateneo De Manila University until August 11. you can follow updates from Ateneo Blue Repertory by following @_blueREPERTORY on Twitter and liking https://www.facebook.com/13musicalblueREP

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES movie review

the epic conclusion of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is a really must-watch for all of us who look out for something big established in the trilogy. Christopher Nolan didn't fail us to be more excited and i wanted something more -- a new sequel probably.
this last film focused on "what would Batman do?" after his retirement with the last movie where he fought Joker. tension and civil war arises after Bane (Tom Hardy) escaped his arrest and came up with a plan to put down the bureaucracy in Gotham City. on the other hand, Bruce Wayne gets a new problem with Selena Kyle (Anne Hathaway) where his fingerprints were copied to gain access to Gotham's big resources.
what i like about this series is the way it was presented in a more realistic way rather than very cartoony. though the bat gear is not shown as how it works, but it was used in a high-class but aided with primary human reaction to defend himself like as how Batman used it.
Blake (Joseph Gordon Levitt), is in store for a big revelation in the movie.

it's great to watch it if all people pay attention to the movie. opening today in cinemas, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is presented by Warner Bros. Pictures, in regular and IMAX format.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES character posters

now i have to refresh myself with the first two movies before i meet them in the concluding movie. Anne Hathaway, as mentioned before, will be playing Catwoman and Tom Hardy is Bane. i just got to have to read the profiles of these villains right now.

Bane, Batman and Catwoman

i was not a fan that much of the latest Batman series when Christopher Nolan teamed up with Christian Bale. until i saw the features especially with The Dark Knight. i was late to realize that it was the best Batman series ever with the realistic action sequences and not too childish like the previous franchises.
