PIXELS movie review

Thank you Resorts World Manila for the exclusive screening of PIXELS. PIXELS is another Happy Madison movie that you could almost relate to every detail in it. From teenage years until you realize that it is a throwback extravaganza with a twist.
Well it started from 1986 when I was still 2 years old, and then got familiarized with video games in 1989. When I got acquainted with arcade, that is when I can already relate with Brenner, played by Adam Sandler, who almost did not have any time for other things. Like many individuals, we also have this one bully that haunts us for life; in Brenner' case Eddie (Peter Dinklage) that successfully gets what he wants and tormented Brenner until his adulthood. More ironic stuff in the movie were Brenner's dumb friend turns out to be the president of the country and the sore loser gets to win a hot girlfriend.
The movie is a feast in the eyes of a video gamer. Gallaga, Centipede, Pacman, Donkey Kong, and more were present and they're set to destroy the earth. But then there are the good guys, QBERT is one of them and helped Brenner and the gang to save the planet. Millennials would be very pleased to see all 80s and 90s stuff in the pile and would be talking about the games they played during those days.

PIXELS is a good movie in 3D as it gives great visual impact with the colors and attacks on the effects. You'll love to see the characters go out of the screen and enjoy the humor that goes with it.
PIXELS is directed by Chris Columbus and distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures (Philippines).

Lola Nidora and Hitler actually dated

This is just one time that I post about #AlDub, the phenomenal love team from Eat Bulaga. It is really funny and thought about sharing it with you.

Are these what's inside the stolen diary? Why do you think Lola Nidora prohibits Alden and Yaya Dub from seeing each other? LOL

an unfamiliar night in La Cage

I was again a stranger getting inside Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium to see the rerun of 9 Works Theatrical's La Cage Aux Folles. Though I knew the music and acts that are in store for this classy, fabulous musical, I am still in awe on the great efforts that is put into this production.
Well, nothing basically changed. But getting inside the theater gives a new ambiance that really immerses us in a bar, the lights, the works. Aside from that, Mako Alonso, PJ Rebullida and Arnold Trinidad takes on the roles that we all love from the first production.
Mako Alonso as Francis / Cagelles
PJ Rebullida as Mercedes
Arnold Trinidad as Mercedes
And then the show begins. The more glittery costumes for our lead couple, Albin and Georg (Audie Gemora & Michael De Mesa) and especially the Cagelles, reflects light and color throughout the room, catching your attention. Instead, they open your senses for the whole show not only visually, but also your hearing and emotional senses.
Albin and Georg still has that romantic chemistry and it's as if you will never really recognize the actors in their roles. They had projected a very exceptional performance that also reflects to the wonderful energy with the rest of the cast. Steven Silva gets better and better with his acting and now he is more comfortable with his role. Noel Rayos even brightens up the audience as Jacob with his different characters. Check every costume change that he will provide. The Cagelles are still as energetic as before and should receive the applause they deserve for those exhausting dances and tight costume changes.

For me 9WT's La Cage deserves a special citation for showing different kind of passion in producing such a show. A simple congratulations would not be enough for me to give to the team. But every standing ovation that audience gives can also inspire other productions to continue giving magnificent shows. Wigs off to everyone.
La Cage Aux Folles runs until September 6. For tickets and inquiries call 0917-5545560, 586-7105, Ticketworld at 891-9999 or email info@9workstheatrical.com.

Interestingly, the Philippine tour will also serve as a homecoming for Del Carmen who was born and raised in Cavite, migrating to the US several years after graduating from the University of Santo Tomas.

“It is with utmost joy and pride that we welcome Pete Docter and Ronnie del Carmen to Southeast Asia in this historic tour. We want to bring Disney-Pixar fans closer to our movies with such events and allow them to experience such one-in-a-lifetime chance to meet with notable creative minds in the animation and entertainment industry,” said Amit Malhotra, General Manager, Studio Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company, Southeast Asia.

One of the best reviewed movies to date, “Inside Out” is a comedy adventure featuring a team of Emotions who help guide an 11-year-old girl named Riley through an unsettling change in her life.

“Inside Out” opened in the U.S. June 19 with a monumental USD $92-million haul, the biggest debut ever for an original film. On its third week of release, “Inside Out” catapulted to the number one spot of the US domestic box-office. Its cumulative gross now stands at USD $325-million and still counting.

Pete Docter has been nominated for six Academy Awards, including best animated feature winner “Up” and nominee “Monsters, Inc.,” and best original screenplay for “Up” and “WALL•E.”

Aside from co-directing “Inside Out,” Ronnie del Carmen has also been a member of the story team on a number of the Pixar’s films, including the Academy Award-winning features “Finding Nemo,” “Ratatouille” and “Up” (for which he served as story supervisor).

About “Inside Out”
From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Opening across the Philippines on August 19, “Inside Out” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.
